Top 5 Books You Should Read Right Now

Written by chicceo Published in

Leaders are readers, amirite?!? I love love love to read. I fantasize about taking a cruise by myself - talking to no one and reading alllllll the books. #sigh #someday.

In the meantime - if you are looking for a great book to help you grow personally or for your business - these are my top 5 books that I highly recommend.

1. Better Than Before by Gretchen Rubin.

Wow. This book was a total eye opener. Gretchen Rubin discusses "expectations" in this little masterpiece. Expectations we have for ourselves and the expectations others put upon us. There are 4 tendencies, and once you realize which one you are (as well as your business partner, employee, spouse, child, etc.) you can better understand what happens when an expectation is put upon you or someone you work with.

This one will not disappoint - that's why it's first on my list.

2. Pitch Anything by Oren Klaff

This book is going to blow your mind. I could not put this down when I read it. If you are pitching to investors or just pitching your services - this book is not to be missed.

Oren is so freaking fascinating that it's quite hard to believe the things he's done. For example, while having a meeting with a CEO of an investment firm he was pitching, the CEO put his feet up on his desk, and apple out of his drawer and started eating it. Oren excused himself, found the breakroom and returned with a knife. He snatched the apple out of the CEOs hand, cut off a slice and ate it. Handing the apple back to the CEO. WHAT?!?

Some of his stories are incredible - you'll learn a lot.

3. 10x Rule by Grant Cardone

This book is a must if you are feeling like you are in a rut or have that weird guilt we sometimes get when we want success. Grant Cardone believes it's our moral obligation to be successful and he does a great job of pumping you up in this book. Even more motivating when you listen to it on audio!

4. Accounting For The Numberphobic by Dawn Fotopulos

Before you freak out - trust me, this is a great book. I had Dawn on my podcast a while back and after we finished recording, we sat on the line talking for another 45 minutes. This is the best book you could pick up if you want to understand your business finances without wanting to gouge your eyes out. She lays out very simply the numbers you need to be paying attention to and how. You'll love it.

5. Essentialism by Greg McKeown

If you are feeling some overwhelm in your business, this book is awesome. Distilling down to the most essential items not only puts rocket fuel into your business, but frees you up so you can do some bigger thinking. McKeown does a great job in giving you practical tactics you can implement to do just that. This is a great book.
