Sure, Fine, Whatever.

Sure, Fine, Whatever.

I saw this little drawing today by Jessica Hagy, in a piece she wrote for Forbes.
I was struck by this little graphic as it so simply depicts what a lot of us do. "Sure." "Fine." "Whatever."

"Would you mind entering this data into the system?"
"I know you just reorganized those files alphabetically, but we need them to be filed by job number instead."
"We know it's the third time you've applied for a promotion, but we just don't think you're ready yet."
In the intersection of Sure, Fine, Whatever is a tiny prison filled with millions of folks, just waiting to do something more, something they love, something that makes them feel useful and joyous. Don't get me wrong, we all have to do things we don't like sometimes (log out of Pinterest) in order to keep life moving along, but we sure don't have to spend 8+ hours a day doing it.
Do a quick check of your day, are you in the tiny prison between Sure, Fine, Whatever? Are you ending up doing things you hate? Admitting it is the first step, dahling. It could even be your own business that's driving you crazy, and that's ok. What's not ok is living your life this way.
Make a decision to 1) recognize if you are in this space with your work and 2) resolve to do less of what you hate and more of what makes you truly happy in your work.  Step out of the prison and into the sunshine, gorgeous! You were meant to sparkle.
Comment below, we want to hear how you broke out of the Sure, Fine, Whatever prison.
