60% of the time, it works every time

Herbert True, a marketing specialist at Notre Dame Univ found that: 

• 44% of all sales people quit trying after the first call
• 24% quit after the second call
• 14% quit after the third call
• 12% quit trying to sell to their prospect after the fourth call

This means that 94% of all sales people quit after the fourth call. BUT 60% of all sales are made after the fourth call!! If we quit trying after 4 "NOs" we are taking 60% of our sales off of the table. 

Ladies, like it or not, as a business owner - you are in sales. It's just the way it is. We tend to shy away from this really important role because none of us really likes to hear "no." I certainly don't... but that doesn't mean we can stick our pretty heads in the sand and hope people knock down our doors trying to buy our wares. Sales is the key driving force in making our businesses run and you will certainly fail without it. 

So, if we heed this statistic, we know sales is simply a numbers game. Give every prospect at least 5 asks. Let them say "no" at least 4 times in order to minimize your opportunity cost. On that fifth ask, you can say to yourself "60% of the time, it works every time."
