Bloggy Disclosures

As of December 1, 2009, the FTC requires bloggers to provide disclosures whenever there could be hidden interests or unspoken biases related to recommendations.

Chic CEO interviews and recommends products that we like and think are valueable to our readers - but because of these new rules and in the event we get a perk for writing about something, we need to CYA. Instead of making a separate statement for every blog post we write - please assume that, for every recommendation, link, and product we use, the following may all hold true:

sponsored posts:

I may be contacted by a company, or their PR agency, to write a post for a product, company, website, etc. All sponsored posts will be marked as such. This information will be found at the bottom of the post.

sponsored links:

It would also be entirely possible that I am contacted by a company, or their PR agency, to include a link in a current post to a product, company, website, etc. All links will be family friendly, and relevant to the blog post in which you’re reading. I will also personally visit every link ever posted on this blog to ensure that my trust with you, the reader, is not compromised.

reviews:

Should a company, or PR agency wish for me to review their products, I will only do so if the product relates to you or me. I simply cannot offer to review anything that would not be relevant to relevant to our readers. However, any and all product reviews will be my opinion. A positive review cannot be purchased. If I loved a product, you will know that. If I didn’t care for a product, you will know that as well.

affiliate links:

There may be some links, or advertisements that are affiliate links. This means that when you click on these links, and make a purchase, I will receive compensation. Affiliate links will be used on products and services that I personally use, recommend, and enjoy.

facebook, tweets and other social networking:

Posts made to Facebook I may not disclose on, however original disclosure will remain with the post on my blog. Some social networking updates may be to promote a post that I have been paid for. Disclosure on those posts will be kept on my blog only. I also from time to time am paid to tweet on Twitter. Those tweets are made using the #ad or #spon hashtag.

morals, values, integrity, disclosure:

These are all things which cannot be bought. So, never fear that we are giving you information that we do not believe to be true simply because we have been paid or otherwise compensated to do so.

If at any time you have a question about our disclosure policy, or sponsored content you are invited to contact me. I will be more than happy to talk with you personally.
