Three Books You Need To Read

I get asked a lot what books I'm reading or what books I recommend for entrepreneurs. I love to read, so I've always got my nose in a book. Even on my podcast The Top 3 for Entrepreneurs, I ask my guests what books they are reading so that I can add to my list. 

Because I love the idea of lists of three, (obviously, I created an entire podcast on it) I thought I would tell you my top three books I highly recommend if you work for yourself or are planning to jump into the game. I've read all three, and I recommend them A LOT. They each tackle different but highly important subject matters so you can get a well-rounded picture from these reads. 

I promise you they are not boring - they are all extremely eye opening, easy to read, understand and implement. Here they are...


#1. Boost Your Sales Using Irresistible Offers by Lisa Sasevich. A quick read - but well worth it. She is giving it away to Chic CEO members for free (so no excuses) You can get it here. 

Topic: Sales.

Why I like it: Lisa is known for the Invisible Close. She is the undisputed queen of conversion and her material is phenomenal. If you are in business you are in sales, and Lisa's approach helps you still feel good and not "salesy." Feeling good while doing sales is a hard feeling to come by, but Lisa has it dialed in and her book is a great workbook for you to reframe your offer and bring in more money. 



#2. Accounting for the Numberphobic by Dawn Fotopulos. My copy is battered and torn, marked with post-its and scribbles. 

Topic: Your financial dashboard.

Why I like it: I had Dawn on the Top 3 Podcast a while back and when her interview was over, we sat on the phone and talked for another 45 minutes. Dawn is known as a "turnaround specialist" - helping a lot of small business owners figure out why they are working like dogs and still not able to pay themselves. If this is your story, this is your book. It's not scary, or boring, it's really simple and easy to understand. She breaksdown how you need to price your goods/services so that you can actually be profitable. This should be a must read for every single business owner. I learned more in this book than getting my MBA. I'm serious. You can get it here.



#3. E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber. If you are overwhelmed even in the slightest - stop what you are doing and read this book. 

Topic: Systems and Processes

Why I like it: I also got to interview Michael Gerber a few years ago, and our conversation was just as incredible as the book. When any one of you come to me with questions about creating systems or getting organized, this is the book I recommend immediately. Not only do you start to look at your business in a totally different way, but he gives real world examples of what the consequences of not creating systems will do to your business. Contrast is really powerful here. I read E-Myth when I was getting the website designed for Chic CEO back in 2009. It was recommended to me by my developer. I read it in a weekend and I've reread it several times since then. You will be amazed at the insights you'll glean from reading this book. You can get it here.
